Time is the Key es el cuarto álbum de Gong de Pierre Moerlen. Fue lanzado a finales de 1979.

Con un sonido totalmente instrumental impulsado por el jazz, notable por el uso prominente del vibráfono, tiene poco que ver con el rock espacial psicodélico del Gong de Daevid Allen, a pesar de que las dos bandas comparten una historia común.

Presenta al teclista de jazz inglés Peter Lemer en la mayoría de las pistas, su único álbum que lo hace, y Allmusic señala que también hay una influencia de rock progresivo en juego, especialmente en los dos primeros números.
