 Highly Strung es el sexto álbum de estudio del guitarrista y compositor inglés Steve Hackett. "Cell 151" fue un éxito menor del álbum y se registró en el Reino Unido. A la banda de Hackett se le añadió el baterista Ian Mosley, quien se uniría a Marillion en 1984. Este fue el último lanzamiento de estudio de Hackett para Charisma.

En 2007, Highly Strung fue remasterizado y relanzado en Virgin Records. La nueva edición presenta notas de liner actualizadas y tres pistas extra.

La pintura de la portada es, como en muchos de los álbumes de Hackett, de su entonces esposa Kim Poor.

Una pieza anterior de Hackett, está siendo un poco experimental en este disco, pero aún regresa a sus raíces. Encuentro este disco mucho más inventivo que algunos de sus otros trabajos en solitario. No es lo mejor, pero le está yendo bien con este CD, y ciertamente no desearía devolverlo con una excusa falsa (nunca he hecho eso). Ahora estoy llegando a la cima de la colección de Hackett. Todavía hay varias colecciones de Live y otras de las que no tengo posesión, pero no las tomo ya que tengo la posesión original en el lanzamiento del estudio. En general no colecciono excepciones de colecciones Live o Greatest Hits porque son bastante aburridas ... Spigomars
