Nektar es una banda de rock progresivo y rock espacial, formada originalmente en Alemania por músicos británicos. El grupo se mantuvo activo a lo largo de la década de 1970 hasta principios de la década de 1980, aunque retornó en el año 2000.

La banda se formó en Hamburgo, Alemania en 1969. Sus miembros fueron los ingleses Roye Albrighton en guitarra y vocales, Allan "Taff" Freeman en teclados, Derek "Mo" Moore en bajo, Ron Howden en batería, y Mick Brockett encargado de las luces, efectos especiales y demás. La composición siempre fue considerada un esfuerzo de grupo.

Los primeros álbumes del grupo, Journey to the Centre of the Eye, ...Sounds Like This y A Tab in the Ocean, fueron trabajos oscuros de rock psicodélico y espacial, e hicieron que la banda ganará un pequeño pero creciente culto basado en gran medida en el boca en boca. El último de estos álbumes fue el primero en ser lanzado en Estados Unidos a través Passport Records, una discográfica pequeña.

El segundo disco en ser lanzado en Estados Unidos, Remember the Future (1973), fue el que propulsó a la banda a una breve popularidad general. Un álbum conceptual sobre un niño ciego que se comunica con un ser extraterrestre; la música marcó un gran salto hacia adelante para Nektar, con un sonido más melódico que el de los álbumes previos. El siguiente LP, Down to Earth (1974), fue otro álbum conceptual con una temática circense. Este también tuvo buenas ventas, irrumpiendo en la lista de los 40 álbumes más vendidos en ese momento, además incluyó la única canción de Nektar en aparecer en la lista de sencillos de Billboard, "Astral Man". El siguiente trabajo, Recycled (1975), se acercó al estilo de bandas como Gentle Giant y es considerado por muchos fans como el mejor momento de Nektar.

El guitarrista Roye Albrighton dejó la formación justo antes de la sesiones de estudio para grabar el primer lanzamiento con una sello importante, Magic Is a Child (1977). El guitarrista Dave Nelson se unió a la banda luego de la salida de Albrighton. El álbum fue más ecléctico, aunque con canciones más cortas, y ritmos bastante sencillos, pero muchos fanes pensaron que estaba demasiado orientada hacia el pop; líricamente el disco abarcó una amplia gama de temas desde mitología nórdica y magia hasta temas más realistas como ferrocarriles o conductores de camiones. Sin embargo, hay fanes que consideraron el álbum un fracaso y demostró ser el fin de la corta popularidad de Nektar, aunque se lanzaron algunos álbumes más, la mayoría en vivo y recopilatorios.

Waiting for the Sun es el tercer álbum de estudio de la banda estadounidense de rock The Doors. Grabado en TTG Studios en Los Ángeles, las 11 pistas del álbum se grabaron entre finales de 1967 y mayo de 1968 y Elektra Records lanzó el álbum el 3 de julio de 1968. Se convirtió en el único álbum número uno de la banda (encabezando las listas durante cuatro semanas) e incluyó su segundo sencillo número uno en Estados Unidos, "Hello, I Love You" (durante dos semanas a partir del 3 de agosto de 1968). El primer sencillo lanzado del álbum fue "The Unknown Soldier", que alcanzó el puesto 39 en el Billboard Hot 100. También se convirtió en el primer álbum exitoso de la banda en el Reino Unido, donde alcanzó el puesto 16.

Habiendo lanzado dos discos, los Doors comenzaron a improvisar para este tercer LP a fines de 1967. Sin embargo, debido a la ausencia de material original, el grupo sufrió lo que el baterista John Densmore describió como el "síndrome del tercer álbum", es decir, la dificultad de una banda para tenemos un stock de muy buenas composiciones, capaz de llenar un tercer disco seguido. Esto era algo que había sido señalado por los críticos en ese momento. La grabación también fue muy difícil para el grupo debido al empeoramiento del alcoholismo del cantante principal Jim Morrison.

Para coincidir con el 50 aniversario del lanzamiento del álbum en 2018, Rhino Records lanzó una versión de lujo de 1 LP / 2 CD del álbum. Esto fue supervisado por el ingeniero de sonido de Doors, Bruce Botnick.

The Kinks, con sede en Muswell Hill en Londres, estaba formado por los hermanos Davies (Ray y Dave), Mick Avory y Pete Quaife. Durante su existencia han tocado diferentes estilos de música rock ('n' roll).

The Snow Goose Re-recorded es un álbum de Camel publicado en 2013 y es una nueva grabación de su álbum de gran éxito de 1975 The Snow Goose . Fiel a la original con bellos arreglos y mejoras de presentación de la edición, The Snow Goose (El Ganso de Nieve) no es sólo una historia atemporal de amor y de guerra. Es una historia de dignidad y bondad que muestra el corazón en las alas heridas de un ganso de nieve a través de su relación única con dos humanos. Escrito por Paul Gallico, esta breve historia inspiró esta hermosa música " .

Fue grabado a partir de mayo de 2013 en estudio ( posteriormente se presentó en una nueva gira de Camel tras la recuperación de una larga enfermedad de Andy Latimer y es un fiel representación del álbum grabado en 1975 (mismo orden de las pistas, con algunos trozos un poco más largos), tal vez con un sonido un poco más apasionado, maduro y una calidad de grabación más rico. Sólo el compositor / guitarrista Andy Latimer queda del grupo original, sin embargo, suena como Camel. Dicho disco fue presentado en el Teatro Barbican de Londres y editado el concierto posteriormente en DVD bajo el título de "In From The Cold".

There's A Riot Goin' On fue el quinto álbum lanzado por Sylvester Stewart y el maestro del funk Sly Stone y marca un gran punto de partida con respecto a sus álbumes anteriores. ¡En marcado contraste, este álbum marca una banda sonora mucho más oscura y amenazante de la cultura estadounidense alrededor de 1971!

Este fantástico álbum es mi favorito personal de muchos lanzamientos de Sly Stone y claramente tenían algo que decir. ¡Aquí hay algunos ritmos profundos importantes y algunos momentos verdaderamente divertidos que mantendrán los dedos de tus pies golpeteando y golpeando con los dedos!

Mi canción favorita de Sly Stone es el clásico funk-a-fried "Africa Talks To You", que dura casi nueve minutos y presenta algunos tonos y ritmos de bajo locos (sin mencionar el mejor tratamiento SACD en el disco).

Estoy seguro de que hay críticas mucho más profundas de este álbum de obra maestra, pero si te gusta el funk, ¡este álbum está en tu timonera!

Me sorprendió encontrar este álbum en SACD de Epic Records de 2013 ... Tuve que revisarlo varias veces...

No hay notas de transatlántico reales que muestren quién remasterizó esto en SACD ni literatura más allá del pergamino original. Esta definitivamente no es una grabación para audiófilos y me sorprendió encontrarla en formato SACD. Habiendo dicho eso, este no es un fracaso sónico, aunque tampoco un disco de firma. Creo que el SACD saca a relucir muchas de las imperfecciones y desventuras de las grabaciones maestras originales. Para mis oídos, este SACD suena turbio y, a menudo, filtrado y menos dinámico. Hay momentos en los que algo realmente se destaca como claramente definido... como un lick de guitarra o un trozo de percusión. Sin embargo, todo el álbum parece bastante plano para mis oídos y un poco demasiado homogéneo. También hay mucho silbido en esta versión SACD y distorsión que ha habido mucho en la grabación original.
