Este juego, aunque genial, En su mayoría son fragmentos, excepto el disco 3 y el disco MP3, que están dominados por piezas completas, demos y pistas en vivo. El disco MP3 es en realidad el mejor de los cuatro. En cuanto a ese disco, se reproducirá en casi todos los reproductores de DVD, y muchos de los nuevos reproductores de CD de audio también reproducirán discos MP3. No tengo una computadora (escribo esto desde el trabajo) por lo que mi reproductor de DVD es la única forma en que puedo escuchar el disco MP3. La caja dice que no se debe reproducir el disco MP3 en ningún sistema de audio, pero o la tecnología ha avanzado mucho desde 2004, o los fabricantes de alguna manera están cubriendo sus partes traseras, porque reproduje todo, imágenes y todo, directamente en mi DVD barato.

BILL BRIFORD'S EARTHWORKS - Earthworks

Primero hubo cuatro álbumes de fusión con guitarras, luego un par de trabajos de piano y batería con Patrick Moraz, y ahora comienza la tercera fase de la carrera en solitario de BRUFORD: jazz avant con cuernos. "Bill Bruford Eartworks" no es una desviación completa de su trabajo anterior: las melodías ganadoras y la percusión exótica aún juegan un papel fundamental en la música, pero la presencia de dos compositores que tocan trompas (Iain Ballamy y Django Bates) abre el puerta a muchas nuevas avenidas musicales. The Final Experiment (originalmente Ayreon: The Final Experiment) es el álbum de estudio debut de la banda holandesa de metal progresivo Ayreon, lanzado en 1995. Originalmente sin ningún artista mencionado, por sugerencia del sello discográfico, el tema se separó más tarde y se usó como el nombre de lo que sería el proyecto Ayreon del músico holandés Arjen Anthony Lucassen.

En 2004, Arjen se mudó a un nuevo sello discográfico, Inside Out; con este movimiento vinieron reediciones de todos los lanzamientos anteriores de Ayreon, incluido The Final Experiment. Concepto

Prólogo

En el año 2084, los científicos encontraron una manera de enviar mensajes en el tiempo utilizando la telepatía del tiempo. Con la Tierra casi destruida por muchas causas diferentes, tienen una esperanza para el experimento: advertir al pasado del futuro para evitar el destino de la Tierra.

Acto I

El receptor de los mensajes telepáticos es Ayreon, un juglar ciego que vive en la Gran Bretaña del siglo VI. Ha vivido su vida en la oscuridad desde el día en que nació, pero un fatídico día todo cambia: Ayreon puede ver imágenes. El juglar cree que estas visiones le son enviadas por los Señores del Tiempo. Sin saber cuánto tiempo queda antes de que la Tierra sea destruida, Ayreon se propone contar la historia de la desaparición de la Tierra cantando canciones de guerras, desastres naturales y tecnología informática. Las historias aterradoras asustan a los aldeanos que lo echan de la ciudad.

Acto II

Solo y expulsado de su aldea, Ayreon va al castillo del Rey Arturo y, siendo un famoso juglar, se le permite cantar sus visiones en la propia corte del Rey.

Acto III

Celoso de su capacidad para prever el futuro, Merlín, el mago de la corte, no está satisfecho con el mensaje de Ayreon, convenciendo a la corte de que el juglar debe ser falso.

Acto IV

Annie in Wonderland es el primer álbum en solitario de Annie Haslam, vocalista de la banda Renaissance de la década de 1970. Fue producido por Roy Wood, quien también escribió parte del material, arregló todas las canciones, tocó casi todos los instrumentos (incluida una voz principal no acreditada en "I Never Believe in Love") e ilustró la portada. El álbum presenta una variedad de estilos musicales que permiten a Haslam experimentar con estilos vocales fuera del espíritu del Renacimiento. David Gilmour fue el primer disco como solista del guitarrista, cantante y compositor británico David Gilmour, grabado en Francia después de que terminara el Tour In The Flesh de su banda Pink Floyd como promoción del disco Animals, pero el álbum contó con mediano éxito, llegando al puesto 17 en Inglaterra y al 29 en E.U.A.

Solo un tema fue lanzado como sencillo, la canción There's No Way Out Of Here con Deafinitely como B-side.

El tema Mihalis viene del nombre del bote de Gilmour, que a su vez viene del griego que significa Miguel.

Los temas Comfortably Numb y Run Like Hell, ambos del álbum de Pink Floyd The Wall (1979) y compuestos principalmente por David Gilmour (con Roger Waters en el álbum) fueron escritos para este álbum.

Wet Dream es el primer álbum en solitario del teclista y ocasional vocalista de Pink Floyd, Richard Wright. Fue editado en 1978, producido por el propio Wright, también autor de la totalidad de las canciones del álbum, una de ellas junto con su exesposa, Juliette Gale, vocalista de una de las formaciones embrionarias de lo que terminaría siendo Pink Floyd. La portada del álbum es obra de Hipgnosis, ya había trabajado en numerosas ocasiones con Pink Floyd.

Bill Bruford, Ralph Towner, Eddie Gomez - If Summer Had Its Ghosts

Creo que Bill muestra verdadero talento y sentido del estilo al asociarse con Ralph Towner (guitarrista clásico y teclista también conocido del grupo Oregon) y el bajista Eddie Gomes, de los artistas clásicos de ECM. Este dúo de cuerdas grabó con Jack DeJohnette el álbum de jazz clásico "Batik", y Bill tiene en mi opinión un nivel profesional similar al del mencionado maestro baterista. En este álbum, el énfasis se centra en una interpretación más tierna y melódica con la batería, y creo que este escenario se estaba elevando después de los actos de terrorismo auditivo de mekChanikC de las sesiones de doble trío de los noventa. La estética acústica también es diferente cuando se compara con el tercer stream orientado "Batik", "If Summer Had Its Ghosts" es un viaje neoclásico más romántico al reino de los ritmos de batería tiernos, melódicos e inteligentes, acariciados por las cuerdas acústicas de Ralph y Eddie. Las pocas muestras digitales ocasionales se funden perfectamente con este tapiz tonal no amplificado debido a su apariencia sonora realista. Mis favoritas aquí son la lenta "Amethyst (para Carmen)" y la tierna "Perdón", pero no creo que haya eslabones débiles en la selección de canciones. Las cuidadosas variaciones del tema de "Never The Same Way Once" también estaban en el repertorio Earthworks de Bill Bruford, que se publicará próximamente, y con el solo de batería de "Some Other Time" se está rindiendo un homenaje a un innovador musical. Mi propia adoración por este álbum se enfatiza por su significado personal para mis hábitos de escucha; Me sumergí profundamente en la música clásica de jazz cuando escuché esto después de ver algunas actividades de DeJohnette, Hancock, Holland, Metheny del Festival de Jazz de Mellon de 1990. De manera similar, encontré los trabajos solistas de jazz de Bill después de su carrera en King Crimson, y descubrí el sereno mundo musical de Ralph Towner junto con otros artistas de ECM, qué revelación.
